  2021 RMAC OFFENSIVE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Karst Hunter, Colorado Mesa,...Colorado Mesa quarterback Karst Hunter earns RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year after stepping onto the field and dealing out 190 completions for a 147.96 rating in his first season with the Mavericks. He secured a 62.5-percent completion average and compiled 2,481 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. Hunter averaged 248.1 passing yards per game with a season-long touchdown pass of 77 yards. The freshman also added in seven rushing touchdowns and 385 rushing yards to push Colorado Mesa to an 8-2 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. - Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Football

  The four University of New Mexico football players - Jacobi Hearn, Brandon Burton, Elijah Lilly and Kentrail Moran - who recently entered the transfer portal will not be playing for the Lobos this season, coach Danny Gonzales confirmed Wednesday. "They're no longer with our program," Gonzales said during a post-practice virtual press conference. "They're allowed to use our facilities to work out and train, to get themselves ready to wherever they're going. But that's it. They will not be with us this (season)." The quartet makes it seven players who have left UNM after previous coach Bob Davie was let go last November. Defensive lineman Aaron Blackwell transferred to Arizona, linebacker Dylan Horton is at TCU and running back Lawrence Johnson left the Lobos to compete in track and field and probably football at Wisconsin. - Albuquerque Journal

  University of New Mexico wide receiver Elijah Lilly and running back Kentrail Moran have entered the transfer portal, they announced on Twitter on Tuesday. The duo joins senior safety Brandon Burton and senior linebacker Jacobi Hearn as Lobos who have entered the transfer portal this month. Lilly, a 6-foot, 160-pound speedy senior from Cajon High in San Bernardino, California, has been one of the Lobos' playmakers. He compiled 375 receivng yards for second on the team in 2018 before playing a shortened 2019 season when he opted out for shoulder surgery. "This wasn't an easy decision for me to make," Lilly said on Twitter. "but after some hard thinking and a lot of prayer I've come to the realization that it would be best for me to try to finish up my collegiate career somewhere else. The University of New Mexico will always hold a special place in my heart." - Albuquerque Journal
